School Board Incumbents Get Top Ballot Spots in November Election
Mendham Twp., Chester Twp. seats up for grabs on regional school board.

Morris County Clerk Ann Grossi this week conducted the annual picking of names for ballot position on the November General Election ballot, and incumbent candidates for the West Morris Regional High School District’s board of education received the top spots.
Marcia Asdal, representing Chester Township on the board, is opposed by former member James Johnston. Asdal received the top ballot spot. James Button, representing Mendham Township, is opposed by newcomer Robert Strobel. Button received the top ballot position.
While one Washington Township seat is available on the West Morris Regional School Board of Education, no names will be posted on the ballot. Paperwork for Tom Richar was sent but not received by the clerk’s office prior to the filing deadline, so the incumbent plans to run a write-in campaign.

The Chester School District’s board of education will take on a very new look come 2015, as three incumbents chose not to run for re-election this year, including Nathan Treff, Ray Trevisan, and Angelo Pennisi. Newcomers Christopher Lowery and Elizabeth Madinabeitia will be on the ballot, with the former grabbing the top ballot position.
Residents can put together a write-in campaign for the third and final available seat on the November ballot. A candidate would need a minimum of 10 write-in votes to win. If a write-in candidate is not appointed, the executive county superintendent will then appoint a school board member.
