Slick Rush Hour Roads In New Jersey As Nor'easter Leaves Ice, Snow

At least one traffic fatality reported as National Weather Service's "Hazardous Weather Outlook" remained in effect Thursday.

A National Weather Service alert remained in effect Thursday morning as New Jersey’s rush hour commuters dealt with the worst remnants of Winter Storm Damon: low temperatures, ice and slick roads.

Winter Storm Damon wound down over New Jersey and Pennsylvania Thursday morning after delivering a second pulse of atmospheric energy that breathed new life into the nor’easter, and dumped 1-6 inches of snow in New Jersey.

Temperatures dropped into the 20s Thursday morning in New Jersey and climbed about 10 degrees by 8 a.m.

As the snow and sleet fell, cars struggled to manage through the black ice that slickened New Jersey’s roads on Wednesday and Thursday morning.

A 23-year-old man was killed in a Route 295 accident in South Jersey on Wednesday. Jeremy Jackson, 23, Williamstown was pronounced dead at the scene.

A serious car crash was reported on I-287 southbound at mile-marker 28.2 when a Silver Acura crashed into the right guardrail. according to the State Police. A man was transported to Morristown Medical Center.
