Snowmobiler Killed On Lake Hopatcong Loved Being Outside
Brian Petronaci is remembered as an outdoorsy man who loved Lake Hopatcong.

LAKE HOPATCONG, NJ — Brian Petronaci, 39, loved spending outdoors, especially on Lake Hopatcong, where he was tragically killed in a snowmobiling accident this past weekend.
Petronaci, originally from Jefferson Township, loved Lake Hopatcong that he moved to Hopatcong to be closer to the lake. According to an obituary:
Born in Paterson, he was the beloved son of Glen and Pamel Petronaci. Brian grew up in the Oak Ridge section of Jefferson Township, and graduated from Jefferson Township High School, where he played football.
He moved to Hopatcong 17 years ago to be closer to Lake Hopatcong, where he loved to spend time boating and enjoying activities year-round. "Petro", as he was affectionately nicknamed by his friends, had an infectious laugh and a kind heart that drew people to him. His "Brian" humor was enjoyed by all and his love of life was evident in all he did. He loved his family, especially his nieces and nephew, and will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
On Jan. 7, Petronaci was pronounced dead on the lake after his snowmobile hit a rock and trees near Liffy Island.

Petronaci is survived by parents, Glen and Pamela Petronaci, sister Sharon Gagliardi and her husband Mario, nephew and godson, Mario Gagliardi, Jr., niece Gianna Gagliardi, niece and goddaughter, Angelina Gagliardi, uncle Paul Petronaci and fiancé Dawn Capraun, and his girlfriend, Amanda Lowe, as well as an extended family and friends.
Visiting hours will be on Jan. 11, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at M. John Scanlan Funeral Home in Pompton Plains. A funeral will be the next day at 10 a.m. at the funeral home.
