MORRIS COUNTY, NJ —A Morris County business owner faces a long road to recovery after suffering serious injuries in a multi-vehicle car collision on Route 206 while running an errand.

Following the June 15 crash, Giuseppe Penza, the owner of Frank's Pizzeria, was airlifted to Morristown Memorial Hospital with severe injuries.

According to a GoFundMe page set up to help with medical expenses, Penza suffered severe spinal injuries, a shattered hip and a shattered shoulder, all of which will require reconstruction.

Lisa Fenton, a community member, established the "Help for the Penza family" fund in the hopes of raising $100,000 for the Penza family.

"In these last few weeks, the Penza family has been through a lot. Giuseppe’s Father-in-Law passed away unexpectedly and Giuseppe himself is now facing a long road to recovery from this tragic accident. The family business continues to run without two of its most important patriarchs," Fenton said.

Penza will face a long road to recovery and an uncertain future, with the possibility that his injuries will limit his ability to return to his business. "As a result, we're asking our wonderful community to assist a family who has always gone above and beyond to serve and help others," Fenton said.

So far, the GoFundMe has raised more than $20,000 of its $100,000 goal.

"Everyone in Mount Olive knows Giuseppe and the famed pizzas at Franks Pizzeria on Rt. 206. They are a hardworking and proud family who have never asked or needed this kind of help in the past. So now we are asking on their behalf for whatever assistance you are able to provide this deserving family," Fenton wrote on GoFundMe.

Penza is scheduled to have his reconstruction surgery on Tuesday, June 28.
