180 Turning Lives Around Gets $575,000 Federal Grant

The grant was secured by Rep. Frank Pallone, and will help women pay their legal bills. Half of 180's clients make less than $20,000 a year.

A very well-known organization in Monmouth County that helps women flee domestic violence received half a million dollars in a federal grant this August.

180 Turning Lives Around, Inc. will receive a grant for $575,000 to expand legal assistance and support for women who are survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault, Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ6) announced Friday.

Congressman Pallone requested the money for 180 Turning Lives Around this past March.

The money will go to help women pay for legal expenses related to final restraining orders, divorces, child custody cases and housing. The award was made through the Department of Justice’s Office on Violence Against Women.

Founded in 1976, 180 Turning Lives Around is Monmouth County’s leading non-profit for advocacy and support for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. Nearly half of its clients have incomes of under $20,000 per year.

“I’m proud to announce that 180 Turning Lives Around will receive this funding that is so critical to helping women in our community secure legal assistance and support during a very difficult time," said Pallone.

“I would like to thank 180 Turning Lives Around for the important work they do in our community," Rep. Pallone added.
