TINTON FALLS, NJ — Two ramps at a major exit on the Garden State Parkway in Monmouth County will be closed for nine months for bridge repair.

The exit is Exit 105 off the Parkway in Tinton Falls. This is one of the most highly-used Parkway exits along the Jersey Shore.

It is two ramps that will be closed and they will be closed starting April 18. They were supposed to be closed Monday night, March 28, but the Turnpike Authority just announced in this press release they postponed their closure to April 18.

A southbound exit ramp and a northbound entrance ramp at Exit 105 of the Garden State Parkway in Tinton Falls will be closed for construction starting Monday night, April 18.

Both ramps will be closed for about nine months as a contractor replaces the decks, beams and parapets of three bridges.

The affected ramps are the exit from the southbound inner lanes to eastbound Rt. 36 and the entrance to the northbound inner lanes from westbound Rt. 36.

The closures will start at 10 p.m. on April 18. It is not immediately known why the Turnpike Authority postponed the work, but these ramps being closed does have the potential to tie up traffic around Exit 105, especially during the morning and evening rush hour commute. Their closure will also likely affect Shore traffic this summer.

How this will affect you

During the closure, southbound traffic on the inner lanes bound for Rt. 36 east will be advised to use Exit 102 and follow the signed detour on Asbury Avenue, Shafto Road and Hope Road to get back to Rt. 36.

Southbound traffic in the outer lanes will not need to detour; that ramp will not be closed during this construction.

Traffic entering the northbound Parkway at 105 will be directed to the outer lanes.

These are the first three of five bridges at Exit 105 scheduled to have their decks, beams and parapets replaced under a $17-million contract the Turnpike Authority awarded to Earle Asphalt Co.

Construction on the last of the bridges is scheduled to be completed in the fall of 2023.
