2nd Wawa May Be Coming To Middletown
At their Wednesday night meeting, the Middletown Planning Board will hear an application to open a new Wawa on Hwy. 35 south.

MIDDLETOWN, NJ — Yes, a second Wawa may be coming to Middletown.
At their Wednesday night meeting, the Middletown Planning Board will hear an application to open a new Wawa on Hwy. 35, at 1230 Rt. 35 south just before New Monmouth Road.
This would be a 4,736-square-foot Wawa convenience store and a gas station.

The new Wawa would be located at the site of the now-closed Friendly's, next to the Chase bank and the CVS. The same applicant, Seth Beller Trust, also wants to turn the Two River Community Bank next door into an office building.
Both of these proposals have to be approved by the Middletown Planning Board.

The Asbury Park Press reported that two years ago the Middletown Planning Board rejected an initial application from Seth Beller Trust to build a Wawa in that area of Rt. 35 because the proposed store was too big. They also said the canopy was too big and that the proposed entrance off Hwy. 35

If the Wawa is approved, the former Friendly’s building would be torn down and the lot would be reconfigured. The Two River Community Bank would also be converted to an office building.
There is already an existing Wawa in Middletown, on Hwy. 36 south in Leonardo.
