3 Rescued When Boat Overturns In Navesink River Friday Night

Sea Bright Fire Dept. volunteers found the third person tangled in the boat's anchor line clinging to a channel marker:

MIDDLETOWN, NJ — On Friday night, three people had to be rescued after their canoe overturned in the Navesink River, according to the Sea Bright volunteer Fire Rescue squad.

The call came in late Friday night for an overturned canoe with three people in the water in the Navesink River off Rumson, fire crews said.

Upon arrival, rescuers found an overturned aluminum boat with three subjects still in the water. A boat passing by arrived there just before the Sea Bright rescue squad and was helping two people out of the water.

Sea Bright volunteers found the third victim tangled in the boat's anchor line clinging to a channel marker. The victim was disentangled and removed from the water.

All three victims were then transported to shore for medical care.
