4,500 Middletown Homes Still Without Power, Library Closed
More than 4,500 customers in Middletown still don't have power, and more than 1,000 customers are out in Atlantic Highlands, said JCP&L.
MIDDLETOWN, NJ — Up to 37,000 residents in Middletown lost power at around 11 p.m. Monday in the thunderstorms.
And in total, the storm cut out power to 75,000 customers across Monmouth County Monday night, said JCP&L/First Energy spokesman Chris Hoenig, who is based in Holmdel.
As of 10:20 a.m. Tuesday, there are currently still 9,800 Monmouth County residents in the dark.

"The hardest hit areas are Atlantic Highlands, Union Beach, Middletown, Old Bridge and Marlboro," said the JCP&L spokesman. "The damage is almost exclusively trees down on wires and broken poles."
In Middletown alone, there are still 4,500 residents without power as of 9:20 a.m. Tuesday, according to Jersey Central Power & Light.

The Middletown Library is also temporarily closed Tuesday morning because it doesn't have electricity.
JCP&L/First Energy tweeted Tuesday morning that more than 4,500 customers in Middletown still don't have power, and more than 1,000 customers are out in Atlantic Highlands. More than 1,600 are still out in Marlboro and just under 1,000 are still out in Manalapan.
Currently, as of 9:20 a.m. the following are still out, according to JCP&L:
- 4,674 in Middletown
- 1,143 in Atlantic Highlands
- 813 in Manalapan
- 1,654 in Marlboro
