Amusement Park Owners Hope to Re-Open Historic Inn This Summer
The Keansburg Amusement Park owners are working to restore the Old Heidelberg Inn, which was destroyed by Hurricane Sandy.

The owners of an area amusement park hope to re-open the historic Old Heidelberg Inn, more than two years after it was destroyed by Hurricane Sandy.
“It is important for us to have this iconic operation back in business,” Keansburg Amusement Park owner, Hank Gehlhaus, said in a prepared statement. “We plan to restore the restaurant to as close as we possibly can.”
Hank and Bill Gehlhaus are working to restore the building as true to the original design as possible, the news release said.

Last year, Keansburg Amusement Park opened an online apparel store for several weeks to help raise money to restore the inn.
They also plan to serve griddle franks, which were once a local staple at the Inn’s restaurant. Construction is underway, and they hope to open the business this summer.
