
Waste Management executive John Wohlrab was honored with an Environmental Quality Award at the annual Clean Communities Awards Dinner, hosted by the Trustees of the New Jersey Clean Communities Council on May 23 in Maritime Parc, Liberty State Park.
The award was presented to Wohlrab for arranging assistance for the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) in its efforts to remove litter and debris from the streets and beaches in the Barnegat Bay Watershed in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy. Waste Management of New Jersey took the lead by providing dumpsters and volunteer labor weekend after weekend in the months following the storm.

As Director of Government Relations with Waste Management of New Jersey, Wohlrab has led the company’s efforts over the past two years to support of cleanups of the Barnegat Bay Watershed with donations of dumpsters and has provided resources for urban cleanups in Newark and Elizabeth for eight consecutive years.

In 2008, Wohlrab stepped forward for Waste Management at the annual Clean Communities Awards Dinner in Princeton to accept the Clean Communities Council’s 2008 Business Partnership Award. Waste Management was a major sponsor of the event that year, providing lunches for 1,000 children in Jadwin Gymnasium on the Princeton University campus..
