April 15, 2015 Middletown Township Committee Meeting

A complete unedited video

The video of this meeting can be viewed at:

The Committee issued three proclamations; declaring National Municipal Clerk’s Week, National Police Week, and Buddy Poppy Month.
An ordinance was introduced to sell various township owned property to be used to reduce expenses for the Township. The majority of the lots up for sale are either bordering wetlands or have a tributary, or creek running through it.
Resolutions adopted include change orders to some projects the township went out to bid on. One such contract calls for replacing a collapsing drainage pipe under Thompson Ave, which is currently being paved and was not in the original specification. Another resolution was adopted to object to the installation of a natural gas pipeline in the Raritan Bay. Many residents came in support of the resolution, including members of the commercial fishing industry.
A group representing clean energy presented over 200 letters asking the Township Committee to include clean energy measures when constructing new construction and implementing policy.
Another group objected to the adoption, at the last meeting, of a resolution stating that Middletown would not be a Sanctuary City. Another group voiced their views in support of the resolution.
The Township Committee was asked why meeting times were changed and why, because of the time change, the Township Committee is ordering dinner at the cost of the taxpayer. It was explained that the Committee members all have full time jobs and do not have time to go home for dinner before the meetings.
