Arrest Made After Stabbing, Fight At Middletown's McMahon Park

The fight broke out at 4:30 p.m. Friday; police arrived at McMahon Park approximately four minutes after the first 911 call, police said.

MIDDLETOWN, NJ — A local Middletown man was arrested after a fight broke out between a group of men and teens at McMahon Park in Middletown on Friday.

The fight broke out at 4:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15, Middletown police said: A caller called 911 to report an altercation at McMahon Park. The first caller indicated two adult males were involved in a fight. A second caller reported that the fight involved juveniles. A third caller said the incident involved a stabbing and all parties had left the scene.

Police arrived at McMahon Park approximately four minutes later, Middletown police said. They confirmed that the fight involved a stabbing and one of the victims had left the scene prior to the arrival of police. A second victim, who sustained minor injuries, was located on scene, provided medical attention for his injuries, and refused transportation to a local hospital.

Police obtained information regarding the suspect and the suspect’s vehicle.

The stabbing victim was located by police and was provided medical attention. He was ultimately transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center by ambulance for treatment of a non-life threatening stab wound to the torso, police said.

Within minutes of the initial call, the suspect and the suspect vehicle were located a short distance away by Ptl. Ryan Maguire. The suspect, identified as Brennan C. Bland, 27, of Middletown, was placed under arrest. Bland was charged with aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes, and terroristic threats.

Bland was lodged in the Monmouth County Correctional Institution pending a hearing. Anyone with additional information is asked to contact Det. Adam Colfer at (732) 615-2120.

Neither of the victims is beingidentified by police.
