Immediate Care CEO Sal Cannizzaro took 60 kids from Monmouth County Big Brothers Big Sisters out deep-sea fishing from Atlantic Highlands:

ATLANTIC HIGHLANDS, NJ — On Aug. 10, Immediate Care Medical Walk-In — which operates urgent care centers in Red Bank, Hazlet, East Windsor and Toms River — hosted their seventh annual kids' fishing trip.

Immediate Care CEO Sal Cannizzaro took approximately 60 children and adults from community organizations such as Father Time, Frances Foundation and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Monmouth and Middlesex County for a day of deep-sea fishing.

They set sail aboard the Mi-Jo II, a 75-foot charter boat that operates out of Atlantic Highlands, guided by Captain Mike and deckhands Dee, Zack and Sissy.

The morning began with breakfast provided by Atlantic Bagel Co. of Atlantic Highlands and then all the attendees received custom printed t-shirts specially made by Henderson Promos and donated by SFC Enterprises, Inc. and Mangia Brick Oven Pizza. The afternoon was spent out on the water fishing for fluke.

Lunch was also generously donated by Jersey Mike’s of Middletown.

“This is a truly wonderful day filled with fun not only for the kids but for all of us involved,” said Cannizzaro. “The kids also learned so much about fishing and marine life. It really is an all-around educational and rewarding experience for everyone.”

During the excursion, Immediate Care staff members also showed the kids how to bait their rods and cast and reel in when they got a bite. The Littoral Society also joined the event to teach the children about the different species of fish and which fish are tagged and which are returned to sea due to size.

Fishing rods were awarded to the kids who caught the three largest fish, courtesy The Reel Seat in Brielle. Additionally, there was an amazing raffle prize donated by Canyon Runner Sportfishing for a full-day fishing charter. All the guests on the boat also received an assortment of day passes to local amusement parks and fun centers donated by Press Communications.

Immediate Care would like to thank all this year’s sponsors and foundations. This is an event that Cannizzaro holds dear to his heart and looks forward to every year as an exciting and memorable day for all involved.
