HIGHLANDS, NJ — Water Witch, the beloved longtime coffee shop in Highlands, is closing. The business said they hope to reopen in a new location sometime soon, but have not yet found a new spot to move into.

October will be their last month in their location at 67 WaterWitch Ave. in Highlands.

Water Witch has been open at that location for the past 16 years. It developed a devoted following as a locals' favorite for not only coffee or tea, but also pastries and lunch, and was also a mainstay supporter of the local Bayshore arts and live music scene.

"Dearest Friends & Patrons,

The Witch's time is up at 67 WaterWitch Ave. With the building under new ownership, the lease offered was not a viable solution. We wish the new owners, and Highlands, the best of success in their endeavors. Searching for the right move has been exhausting, so we are taking a pause. As one of our customers said, 'The Witch is going into hibernation.' We will have a great celebration, Last Bash at 67, to honor the customers and the space where Water Witch has grown over the past sixteen years! Many of the musicians who have grown with us will be performing over the next few months so please stay tuned in for the lineup!"

"Although our followers will miss our delicious fresh food and specialty coffee drinks, community art events will continue."
