Students Win Big in Stock Market Game
Students in the middle school at Mother Teresa Regional School won big in the Stock Market Game sponsored by the sifma Foundation.
Students at Mother Teresa Regional School in Atlantic Highlands made money in the Stock Market. Mrs. Patricia Hale, middle school math teacher, led students in the National Stock Market Game. The game gave students the chance to invest a hypothetical $100,000 in an online portfolio. The students learned economic and financial concepts. The game ended April 19th and MTRS students did well. There were two games this year. The Diversification Game only allowed students to keep a diversified portfolio. Steven Clagett was ranked the highest for MTRS at 4th out of 69 teams in the division. The diversification division was mostly high school students. In the Stock Market Game, students could put all their money in one area such as stock or keep it diversified. The team of 7th grade students Valerie LaRocca and Samantha Lombardo placed third in the Southern Region Middle School Division out of 238 teams. 8th graders, Gabby Compagni, Meghan Craig, Rachel Kovach, Ryann Rahm, and Valicia Stoeckel ranked 16th out of the 238 teams and were the top 8th grade team for the school. Samuel Rivera, a sixth grade student, was the highest ranked in his class and ranked 28th out of 238. MTRS had six teams in the top 50.
