Car Flips On Rt. 36 Sandy Hook Bridge; Two Injured

Two people were injured late Saturday night when a car flipped over on the Rt. 36 bridge connecting Highlands to Sea Bright and Sandy Hook.

SEA BRIGHT, NJ — Two people were injured late Saturday night when a car flipped over on the Rt. 36 bridge connecting Highlands to Sea Bright and Sandy Hook Gateway National Park.

A car overturned at 2:10 a.m. this past Sunday morning on the bridge, Sea Bright Detective Daniel Chernavsky told the Asbury Park Press.

The car was heading from Sea Bright into Highlands when it crashed.

Its driver and one passenger were injured, but their injuries were not life threatening, according to the report. They were taken to Monmouth Medical Center.

The bridge to Sandy Hook was closed until about 5:40 a.m. Sunday.
