Celebrating Connection Through Faith
United We Sing, hosted by the Unitarian Universalist congregation, featured song and dance of several faiths.
It was a celebration of diversity and common threads in faith.
United We Sing, an interfaith and intercultural celebration was hosted recently at the Unitarian Universalist congregation’s meeting house on West Front Street in the Lincroft section of Middletown.
Co-sponsored by the Monmouth Center for World Religions and Ethical Thought and the Social Action Committee of the Unitarian Universalist congregation, the Nov. 20 event showcased what faith leaders described as “a rich tapestry of intercultural music, prose and dance.”

The United We Sing program was originated in the aftermath of 9/11. “In anguish and sorrow, the community came together from different cultural and faith traditions to celebrate our rich diversity,” a released statement said. “The healing effect of the evening led to annual presentations from the Muslim, Jain, Christian, Baha'i, Buddhist, Hindu, Sikh, Jewish, Native American and Unitarian communities.”
