MIDDLETOWN, NJ — Join the Middletown recreation department for a colonial tea ceremony in Middletown's historic 18th century farmhouse next weekend at Poricy Park. This event will go from 3-4 p.m. on Saturday, June 15 at Poricy Park (345 Oak Hill Road) and is a wonderful chance to learn about Middletown's fascinating colonial history from the 1700s.
Middletown and the area around it were active in the Revolutionary War and this area saw both American and English troops marching across it. The Sandy Hook peninsula was a key strategic point both armies wanted to secure.
A period-dressed interpreter will be on-hand to instruct in colonial manners. Additionally, children will craft an 18th century toy.
