Drowning At Sandy Hook Sunday

Someone drowned off Beach C, according to the National Park Service.

HIGHLANDS, NJ — Someone drowned at Sandy Hook Sunday, according to a spokeswoman for the National Park Service, which runs Sandy Hook.

The drowning occurred off Beach C.

National Park Service lifeguards, park rangers and EMTs, assisted by Sea Bright Fire Rescue, all raced to the beach in response to 911 calls of an individual in distress.

The person was taken to a local hospital for medical care and was later declared deceased at the hospital. The National Park Service did not release their age or gender.

The incident remains under investigation, and no additional information is available at this time.
