After you sign up, simply show up at the brewery a little before 2 p.m. this Sunday, Nov. 19 and bring your pie or apple confection. Judging will be done from 2-3 p.m. by some "celebrity" Middletown judges; judges revealed Sunday.

Ross Brewing Co. is located at 909 Main St. in Port Monmouth. It just opened this past April; here are pics from opening day. Its owner is John Ross Cocozza, who lives locally in the area.

The contest is open to anyone, from professional bakers to home bakers and even kids/teens. Everyone who enters will win something, but the top three best pies will actually win cash prizes. And everyone at the brewery that day will get to eat the pies/baked goods.

Cocozza says if the contest is a success, he plans to host this every November. Judges will award points on three categories:

Appearance - As they say, we eat with our eyes first!

Taste - Which pie appeals most to the judges' tastebuds?

Creativity - Did you use unique ingredients? What sets your dessert above the rest of the competition?

We will award winners for each category as well as an overall 1st, 2nd and 3rd place!

Extra pie will be up for serving after the competition!
