HIGHLANDS, NJ — A fire that broke out in a second-story attic has grown so big it has now closed that part of Hwy. 36 through Highlands.
Highway 36 near the Sandy Hook Bridge is currently closed in both directions Tuesday afternoon, according to NJ 511, which monitors traffic accidents throughout the state.
The fire started in an attic and rose to second-alarm status. It is now out. The home on fire is pictured above; it is on Navesink Avenue.
