Unique Art on Display in Museum Gift Gallery

Local artists showcase their wares at Monmouth Museum.

Where do old wine corks go to die? To the roof of a swanky bird house, if they're lucky.

Birdhouses and trays crafted from wine crates and corks, by Wayside artist GM Stetter, are just one kind of the unique works on sale at the located on the campus of .

This week the museum will transform its Nilson Gallery into a holiday gift gallery with a wide variety of hand-crafted and eco-friendly gifts created by local artists. Artists featured at the gallery hail from towns all over the county — Fair Haven, Red Bank, Tinton Falls, Sea Bright and Monroe, to name just a few.

On exhibit will be one-of-a-kind gifts including jewelry, scarves, ceramics, books, decorative home and garden items, fashions and more. Photographic prints and notecards from the Dorn’s Classic Images collection will also be featured.

You can get a jump start on your holiday shopping on Friday Dec. 9 at the gallery's opening reception from 6 to 8 p.m.

The gift gallery will be open from Dec. 9 to Jan. 13. Shopping hours are  
Tuesdays through Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Fridays from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.; and Sundays from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
