Heavy Flames Pour Out Of Port Monmouth House Fire Sunday
This was the scene at 1:21 p.m. Sunday at a home on Leslie Lane in the Port Monmouth section of Middletown:
MIDDLETOWN, NJ — A garage fire broke out in Middletown Sunday afternoon, according to the Middletown Fire Department.
The fire occurred at approximately 1:21 p.m. Sunday at a home on the 100 block of Leslie Lane in the Port Monmouth section of Middletown.
On arrival, Deputy Chief William Kane Jr. found a working fire in the home's attached garage. There were very heavy fire conditions coming from the garage.

Firefighters from East Keansburg Fire Company and Port Monmouth Fire Company arrived and immediately began fire suppression and ventilation operations. Because of their efforts, the fire was quickly put under control and major damage was avoided to the main home.
Under the direction of Deputy Chief Kane, a total of 59 firefighters from the Port Monmouth Fire Company, East Keansburg Fire Company, Independent Fire Company of Belford and Community Fire Company responded.

No injuries were reported. All units were cleared from the scene by 3:00 p.m.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Middletown Township Fire Marshal’s office, under the direction of Fire Official Edward Skelly.
