Highlands’ Annual Oktoberfest This Saturday
Authentic German food, Oktoberfest beer, live music, dancing, contests and vendors Saturday from 2-9 p.m. in Highlands.

Grab your lederhosen and beer stein and head to Highlands’ 16th annual Oktoberfest this Saturday, Oct. 1!
The festival is modeled after the traditional Munich, Germany Oktoberfest with an emphasis on eating; drinking and being merry while providing something for everyone. Authentic German food, live music, dancing and other great entertainment will be part of the Highlands Business Partnership’s 16th Annual Oktoberfest celebration taking place in Veterans Park on Bay and Shrewsbury Avenues on Saturday, October 1st from 2:00 – 9:00 p.m. Admission and parking is free.

Authentic German food is a highlight of this famous festival. Executive Chef Butch Greenwaldt is preparing the menu with plenty of traditional German favorites hot off the grill such as bratwurst, knockwurst, kraut, potato pancakes, goulash, sauerbraten and Bavarian noodles along with other tasty fare those less adventurous. Quench your thirst with a large variety of Oktoberfest beers, both light and dark. The beer garden will also serve pumpkin beer, hard apple cider, riesling wine and sangria.

Join the thousands of visitors who annually attend to enjoy the live Oompah and polka music performed by the Ed Hendela Band. The Bayern Verien German Dancers will surely get the crowd moving. Festivities will include a “Best-Dressed” Contest, and a “Beer Stein Holding” Contest with special prizes. There will also be 50/50 drawings with 50% of the proceeds going to the lucky winners.

There is something for everyone at the Highlands Oktoberfest. The festival is family-friendly and there will be children’s activities and face painting, along with a wide variety of retail, specialty and craft vendors.
