Highlands Borough Getting A Skatepark: See Renderings
The skatepark will be located at Snug Harbor; construction is supposed to start this spring.
HIGHLANDS, NJ — A skate park is coming to the tiny town of Highlands!
The skate park will be located at Snug Harbor, at the intersection of Bay and Snug Harbor avenues, right at the bottom of the hill overlooking the Raritan Bay waterfront. Highlands hired design firm Spohn Ranch Skate Parks to build it and construction on the skate park is supposed to start this spring.
Here is how the skate park will look: https://highlandsborough.org/w...

Last year, Highlands received a nearly-$600,000 low-interest loan from the NJDEP Green Acres Program to build the skate park.
That is enough money to build it, said the town. But then this January, Highlands received another $200,000 in a Monmouth County Municipal Open Space Grant for the skate park.

That $200,000 will be applied to offset the low-interest (2 percent) loan component of the Green Acres funding package, said the town of Highlands.
Highlands was just one town in a slew of Monmouth County Open Space grant funding announced last month.
Eatontown will get $48,000 in a matching grant to build a splash pad/water park. The splash pad will be located in an entirely new park Eatontown is building, Nicodemus Park.
