Here is your chance to learn to improvise, sharpen your improvising skills and practice playing with a jazz ensemble. Unlike typical ‘jam sessions’, the instructor guides the group so everyone will learn about techniques and popular jazz styles (swing, Latin, and ballad), as well as have the opportunity to play, experiment, and improve. The group studies and plays jazz standards so that you’ll be able to ‘call the tunes’ and ‘know the changes’ when you sit-in with other jazz players. 8 week session: 1/13–3/3. Members $120, Non-members $132.
