Keansburg Boy, 15, Still Missing As Of Monday

The 15-year-old Keansburg boy who ran away from home on March 1 is still missing as of Monday morning, March 21, said the county prosecutor.

KEANSBURG, NJ — The 15-year-old Keansburg boy who ran away from home on March 1 is still missing as of Monday morning, March 21, according to a spokesperson for the Monmouth County Prosecutor.

Jonah Melendez, also known as Angel, has been missing since March 1.

The teen boy was last seen by his parents at the family's Keansburg home on that date, a Tuesday, said Keansburg Police. His parents left him at home and went out at 9:15 a.m. When his parents got home at 1:30 that afternoon, he was gone.

March 1 was a regularly scheduled day for all Keansburg public school students to be in school.

His parents say they think he ran away from home after being punished. They said the teen boy does not have his own cell phone. He did not take a cell phone with him when he ran off, nor does he appear to have taken any money.

His parents reported him missing to Keansburg Police the next day, at 10:16 a.m. on March 2.

He is known to have friends in Sayreville and the Bronx, said police. His parents have tried to contact him and his friends multiple times since then, but there has been no contact from the teen boy since, said police.

He was last seen wearing a grey Adidas sweatsuit. He is 5-foot-9 and 140 pounds.
