Keansburg Councilman Charged With Burglary, Assault
A councilman from Keansburg was arrested Dec. 29 and is currently being held at the Ocean County jail.

KEANSBURG, NJ — A councilman from Keansburg was arrested Dec. 29 and is currently being held at the Ocean County jail.
The councilman is Sean Tonne. He was arrested by Jackson Police in Jackson Township on Dec. 29, and charged with one count of burglary and one count of assault.
Jackson Twp. Police refused to release any more details about his arrest, saying it was a sensitive matter.

Tonne's seat will be up for re-election this May. He is also a public school teacher at Keansburg High School.
Patch asked Keansburg Mayor George Hoff if he has any comment, and he said the following Thursday:

"The accusations are very serious. I do not support any type of violence against another person and encourage any victim to come forward and report it. There is a ongoing investigation and I will not comment any further, so we will have to wait to see how it is adjudicated in the courts."
"As far as his position on council, I’m sure the councilman will decide what is right for himself and the borough," said Mayor Hoff.
