TOMS RIVER, NJ — A Keansburg woman was critically injured Tuesday morning when she ran a stop sign and was hit by a garbage truck in Toms River, police said.
The 37-year-old Keansburg woman was flown to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, where she was listed in critical condition Tuesday night, said Jillian Messina, media relations specialist for the Toms River Police Department.
Police say she was driving north on Garfield Avenue in Toms River at about 7:50 a.m. when she failed to stop at the stop sign at Windsor Avenue, Messina said. As she drove into the intersection, she was hit by a Toms River Township garbage truck, which was driving west on Windsor, Messina said.
