Learn The Molly Pitcher Inn's Secret History

RED BANK, NJ — Have you ever been curious how the Molly Pitcher Inn got its name?

At 7 p.m. Tuesday, August 22 the Middletown Historical Society hosts historian John Fabiano as he presents "A Servant at Mrs. Watkins: Molly Pitcher's Local Origin."

The legend of Molly Pitcher is well-known, but how much of it might be true? Did she contribute significantly at the Battle of Monmouth? Was she a real person?

Fabiano delves into the topic and offers an interesting thesis.

Fabiano recently retired as Executive Director of the Monmouth County Historical Commission and was past President of the former Allentown-Upper Freehold Historical Society.

Motivated by his curiosity in the Molly Pitcher legend, he pursued a Master’s Degree in Public History from Rutgers-Camden.
