LISTEN: David Bowie Liked This Bruce Springsteen Song
Which Springsteen song did Bowie play when he was a guest DJ on BBC in 1979?

May 1979. David Bowie was a guest DJ on BBC. In a two-hour set of songs he played, nearly all by artists other than himself, Bowie also included a number from our own Bruce Springsteen.
“Here’s a great writer. Um, I don’t like what he’s doing very much now. I loved this album when it came out; it was on Asbury Park,” says Bowie. ”Bruce Springsteen. And after I heard this track, I never rode the subway again. It’s called Saint in the City.” (“It’s Hard to Be a Saint in the City.”) Hear it below at the 1:14:30 mark.
Bowie also plays The Doors, John Lennon, Philip Glass, Ronnie Spector, Bob Seger, Blondie, Talking Heads and even classical music.
