Local Nonprofit In Dire Need Of Baby Blankets

We are in great need of handmade baby blankets for our care packages, each blanket makes a difference.

Update as of 8/29/18: Coping With LM is currently at capacity of blanket donations.

"We want them to be wrapped in love and support," says Coping With Laryngomalcia Founder and President Stephanie Hueston.

Lifelong Middletown resident Stephanie Hueston founded Coping With LM in 2010 shortly after her daughter, Seraphina's life saving airway surgery. As an infant, Seraphina was diagnosed with severe laryngomalacia and tracheomalacia. She needed supplemental oxygen, had difficulty feeding, an enlarged heart, reflux and severe sleep apnea which required mouth to mouth by her parents. Thankfully, the surgery was a success and Seraphina has been breathing easy ever since.

The Port Monmouth based, all volunteer organization provides worldwide support and education for families coping with airway disorders. The close-knit community stands together by raising awareness for an airway disorder many don't know much about.

But Coping With LM's greatest impact comes from their Breathe Easy Care Package Program. "The program was created to show families they are not alone on this journey. We are here for them, every breath of the way," adds Stephanie.

Each care package includes a handmade blanket, hat, story book, pajamas and the organizations mascot, #LuTheLamb. Care packages are sent all over the world and because of Coping With LM's generous donors, at no charge to the families.

"It's incredibility comforting to wrap your baby in a blanket that was made with such love," says Stephanie. "These parents are in an overwhelming and terrifying situation, their infant just had major airway surgery and is in intensive care."

In 2017 Coping With LM gave 151 care packages and now just half way into the new year, they are already at almost 100.

"We are in great need of handmade baby blankets for our care packages, each blanket makes a difference,"* urges Stephanie.

Coping With LM is in need of handmade baby blankets: size 36x36 in. is best and made from new materials such as fleece, yarn or fabric. They are also in need of new with tags infant-toddler pajamas, storybooks, coloring and sticker books. Travel size personal care items for Mom and Dad are also accepted.
