M.A.S.T. Team Shines at Spring Competition
Oak Hill Academy took home Second and Third place and FIVE of the TOP TEN out of a 28 team field hosted by M.A.S.T.
Oak Hill Academy took home Second and Third place and FIVE of the TOP TEN out of a 28 team field hosted by the Marine Academy of Science and Technology (M.A.S.T.) Jeopardy style academic competition on Friday, March 10 at their M.A.S.T. campus on Sandy Hook.
The competition consisted of a round robin preliminary round of 8 groups of 4 teams each (with 4 team members competing) in a Jeopardy style competition where there were six categories with point totals of 20, 40, 60, 80 & 100 in each. After the first three rounds were completed, the total scores of the three rounds were totaled to create the seeding for the final rounds. After this result, Oak Hill occupied the 2nd & 3rd seeds overall! Unfortunately, this meant it was an Oak Hill 7 vs. Oak Hill 4 semi-final.
In its semi-final, Team 7 (#2 seed) defeated their fellow Mustang counterparts, Team 4 (#3 seed). It was on to the finals versus Eisenhower 1, the #1 overall seed. It was a very challenging final round, but when it was all said and done, Oak Hill 7 lost to a very tough and seasoned Eisenhower team in the finals to finish in 2nd place with the entire team returning next year! In the consolation round Oak Hill 4 dominated Forrestdale 4 by the score of 1040 to 240 and earned 3rd place. Rounding out the TOP 10 teams, Oak Hill 1 captured 6th; Oak Hill 8 secured 9th place and Oak Hill 3 took home 10th!
