Man Charged In Middletown Valley National Bank Robbery On Dec. 28
A Perth Amboy man is charged with first-degree armed robbery, Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond Santiago announced Monday:
MIDDLETOWN, NJ — On Dec. 28 the Valley National bank in Middletown was robbed, and now on Monday, the Monmouth County Prosecutor announced an arrest has been made.
Miguel Angeles, 42, of Perth Amboy is charged with first-degree armed robbery, Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond Santiago announced Monday morning. The county prosecutor did not specify the exact kind of weapon shown.
The bank, in the Middletown Kohl's Plaza shopping center on Rt. 35 south, was robbed at 10:43 a.m. on Wednesday, December 28: Middletown Police were called for the robbery alarm that had been activated.

When police got there, they were informed that a masked man had entered the bank and stolen close to $8,000 before fleeing in the car pictured above.
A joint investigation by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office, Middletown Police and the FBI ultimately led to the arrest and charging of Angeles.

As of Monday morning, he remains in custody pending a detention hearing currently scheduled to take place Wednesday in Monmouth County Superior Court. The detention hearing will determine whether he is detained in jail until trial, or released until his trial.
Convictions on charges of this nature are commonly punishable by terms of 10 to 20 years in state prison, subject to New Jersey’s No Early Release Act, which mandates that 85 percent of certain terms be served prior to the possibility of parole.
