Man Drowned In Highlands Marina Wednesday, State Police Say
A man died after he fell off a boat and had to be rescued from the water at Highlands marina Wednesday morning, according to State Police.
HIGHLANDS, NJ — A man died after he fell off a boat and had to be rescued from the water at the Highlands marina Wednesday morning, according to New Jersey State Police.
The man has been identified as Stanley J. Zagleski, III, 54, a Carteret resident.
The incident happened just before 10:30 a.m. Wednesday: The man fell off a boat in the area of the Gateway Marina, which is the marina near Bahr's Landing seafood restaurant, said New Jersey State Police Lt. Jeff Flynn.

Highlands Police Chief Robert Burton told the Daily Voice that a pair of other boaters saw the man struggling in the water and pulled him onto their boat and began CPR on him, and then called 911.
Flynn said those men were commercial fishermen, and that they actually found the man floating in the water.

When State Police arrived on the scene, the man was unresponsive, said Flynn. He was rushed to Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch, where he was pronounced deceased.
While Flynn said he did not have the exact cause of death yet, "a preliminary investigation shows the man fell off a boat into the water."
It is unknown if he owned the boat from which he fell.
