Man Says He Was Beaten, Robbed At Motel After Ex-Girlfriend's Knock On Door: Police

The man says he was with a Port Monmouth woman when his ex, also from Port Monmouth, knocked; two men assaulted him, he told police.

A Lacey Township man was treated at the hospital for extensive injuries after he was beaten and robbed in a motel room at the Howard Johnson’s in Toms River on Monday, police said.

Toms RIver police spokesman Ralph Stocco said police officers responded to the motel at 9:15 p.m. on Monday. The 22-year-old Lacey man reported that while he was in his room with his girlfriend, a 21-year-old woman from the Port Monmouth section of Middletown, there was a knock on the door and the Lacey man saw his ex-girlfriend -- an 18-year-old from Port Monmouth -- outside, Stocco said.

A second later two men entered the room and began assaulting him, Stocco said. They then took $200 cash belonging to the man and fled the area. The man was taken to Community Medical Center for treatment, Stocco said.
