Memorial for Former Thompson Middle School Teacher Saturday

MIDDLETOWN, NJ - There will be a memorial service Saturday, Jan. 7 for Steven Mamchak, a former drama teacher at Thompson Middle School. Many in the Middletown area knew Steve either as a teacher or a magician. A resident of West Long Branch, Steve taught in Middletown for 35 years. He died at the age of 77 Dec. 5, 2016 at Monmouth Medical Center.

He was a longtime member of Leroy Talma Bosco Ring 123 of the International Brotherhood of Magicians. There will be a service for him this Saturday at 10 a.m. at 1st Assembly of God, 220 Sycamore Avenue in Shrewsbury. The International Brotherhood of Magicians Ring 123 will be performing a broken wand ceremony to honor Steve.

"If you knew him in any way I encourage you to join us," said Ross Benjamin Bernstein, VP of IBM Ring 123.

He leaves behind his wife of 52 years, Susan. His remains were donated to Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.
