Memorial Service Announced For Middletown Boy Killed In E-Bike Crash
Funeral services were announced for Gustavo Rocha, 15, a student at Middletown High School South.
MIDDLETOWN, NJ — There will be a memorial service Wednesday for the Middletown teenage boy who was killed in an e-bike crash last week.
Gustavo Rocha, 15, of the Lincroft section of Middletown, crashed into the back of a car while on his e-bike last Wednesday, June 10. Although he was wearing a helmet, he was critically injured and was rushed to Jersey Shore University Medical Center, where he remained in the ICU for several days.
He died of his injuries three days after the crash, on Saturday, June 13.

His visitation and memorial service will be held from 3-7 p.m. Wednesday, June 17 at Pfleger Funeral Home in Middletown. Family and friends are welcome to attend. There will be a prayer service at 6:30 p.m., the funeral home announced here in his obituary.
Rocha was riding an e-bike at 5:24 p.m. June 10 on Newman Springs (Rt. 520) and Jumping Brook roads when he crashed into the back of a car, said Middletown Police. The car was stopped on Newman Springs Road and the teen collided with the back of the car.

Members of Middletown EMS were the first to arrive at the scene and they found the teen boy lying in the road. The driver and occupant of the car were uninjured, stayed at the scene and have been cooperative in the investigation.
At the time of his death, the teenage boy was a student at Middletown High School South. He graduated from Thompson Middle School in 2025.
His family donated his organs.
