Live Middle East Music at the Strauss Mansion on August 25

Join us at the Strauss Mansion, 27 Prospect Circle, Atlantic Highlands on Thursday, August 25th at 7:00 pm for a concert of the beautiful music of the Middle East and Arab World, featuring world-acclaimed Bassam Saba and April Centrone, co-founders of the NY Arabic Orchestra.
Bassam Saba of Lebanon is a musical virtuoso, acclaimed multi-instrumentalist, educator and world renowned authority on Arabic music. Regarded as a true pioneer of the nay and Arabic interpretation of western flute, Saba has performed with many of the greatest Arab, Western classical, and Western pop icons including Yo-Yo Ma, Sting, Alicia Keys, Santana, Herbie Hancock and Quincy Jones.
April Centrone is a performer, teacher and music therapist originally from New York, residing since January 2013 in Beirut, Lebanon, and now based on the Jersey Shore. Centrone studied classical Arabic music since 2005 and played western drums and percussion since she was 9 years old. She performed with Lebanese stars, Ziad Rahbani and Marcel Khalife. Centrone led a music education and therapy project serving youth of refugee camps and underprivileged zones, as well as music therapy and healing-through-drumming workshops in Beirut. She performs regularly with her jazz band Acada, an Asbury Park-based world jazz band, and all female rock group based in Brooklyn called Jane.
Bassam and April will perform their music on a variety of instruments, and will speak about the music as well, for an informative and inspiring musical event.
