Make a Doll Workshop with Patricia Sebastiano (Ages 7-12) Mondays Only, 12:30-3:30 pm. Session I: July 7, 14, 21, 28, Session II: August 4, 11, 18, 25, Members $85 Non-members $100. Explore the joys of sewing by hand. Create your own individualized cherished doll keepsake. Outfit your creation with a jumper, skirt, fashion accessories and a toy which you create using a pattern and simple hand sewing techniques. Enhance your creation with a variety of frills and embellishments. All supplies included and all levels welcome. “Instant Play” Acting for Kids with Mike O’Keefe (K-5) Monday-Friday, 12:30-3:00 pm, Members $105 Non-Members $120. Acting techniques and fun for every student, from beginner to creative expert! Scene work, improvisational comedy, character study, TV, and fi lm techniques will be taught. We will also have lots of fun playing drama games that foster creativity, self-expression, and teamwork. Students are encouraged to show parents what they have learned in an end of week mini performance. Each week is different and students who love theater are encouraged to sign up for multiple weeks.
Youth Drama with Tara Mahoney and Erin Stripto Wednesdays for 15 weeks*, 4:00-5:30 pm, Members $250 Non-Members $265. This professional theatre training program is open to all beginner, intermediate, and advanced aspiring young performers, ages 7 and up. Students will engage in theatrical curricular studies focusing on creating a character, stage presence, script analysis, dance and performance skills, while learning techniques of auditioning for stage performance.*The youth drama program will meet once a week for 15 weeks, starting on July 2nd and culminating with a Fall Festival performance showcase of the Children’s Theatre production. Junk Yard Jammers with Miss Sherri (Ages 7-10) Monday-Friday 8:30-11:30 am, Members $150 Non-Members $175. Jammers make, shake, strum, and drum the day away reusing old stuff from home, making unique one-of-a-kind percussion instruments. Kids will even take an old song and re-write it into a new hit tune!! Kids learn about going green through re-cycling, re-using and re-thinking about junk, re-vitalizing it into NEW cool usable items. Jumping, dancing, drumming, and singing are just a few activities jammers will experience at this totally groovy camp.
Make Your First Video Game! with Black Rocket Productions (Ages 8-13) Monday-Friday, 1:00 -4:00 pm, Members $165 Non-Members $175. Make your first video game in this one-of-a-kind class that shows you the crucial keys to designing your first 2-D game. No prior experience is necessary, just a desire to have fun. Student created games will be available on a password protected website to share with family and friends. Software/games are only compatible with PC computers. Mac versions can be created after the program for a $15 conversion fee.
New! MAC Grows Young Gardeners with Adrienne Shannon (Ages 5-10) Monday-Friday 9:30-11:30 am, Week 1: July 21–25, Week 2 : July 28–August 1, Week 3: August 4–8, Members $150, Non-Members $165. The garden is a magical place to learn and grow. Learn about local seasonal vegetables, herbs, and fruits including where things grow, how things grow, and how we can enjoy them. Explore the joy and wonder of planning, planting, and taking care of a small garden through fun, age-appropriate hands on activities. Activities vary daily: arts and crafts, gardening, problem solving, taste testing, “uncooking” simple recipes. Water, a hat, and light gardening gloves are recommended for this very special week.
“Uncooking” For Kids with Adrienne Shannon (Ages 8-12) Monday-Friday 12:30-3:00 pm, Members $150, Non-Members $165. Kids who prepare their own food are more likely to eat it. Learn basic kitchen techniques and how to creatively add fruits, vegetables, greens, and grains to your plate in a comfortable age-appropriate setting. Practice making great “uncooked” recipes and enjoy tasting them, too. Recipes and activities vary daily. Taste testing will be included.
