Middletown Arts Center Summer Art, Dance & Theater Camps: July 28 – August 1

Peace, Love and ART! with Miss Laurie (Ages 4- 8) Monday-Friday, 12:15-3:00 pm, Members $105 Non-members $120. A week full of amazing art projects! Make a poster, paint peace signs, and craft with a groovy theme.

Jump and Jingle with Doodle Dawn (Ages 2-6) Monday-Friday 9:00 am -11:45 am, Members $100 Non-members $115. Dance with musical instruments and sing all your favorite songs. Make drums, shakers and lots of crafts.

STAR WARS honoring George Lucas! with Doodle Dude (Grades 1-5) Monday-Friday 9:00-11:30 am, Members $120 Non-Members $132. Doodle Dude’s arts and space craft class, where we make our own aliens at Mos Eisley Cantina! Sculpt, draw, paint, and create planets, creatures, droids… and ultimate model spaceship building! Star Wars costume party at the end of the week!!

KidzArt with Miss Tresse: Make a Splash Water Adventure (Ages 6 -10) Monday - Friday, 1:00- 4:00 pm, Members $125 Non-members $135. Submerge yourself in art as we explore some interesting properties of water. Build a model waterslide park, paint a killer whale, draw an underwater fish café, and design a futuristic underwater vehicle! Campers will experiment with water and salt to create beautiful art!

Youth Drama with Tara Mahoney and Erin Stripto Wednesdays for 15 weeks*, 4:00-5:30 pm, Members $250 Non-Members $265. This professional theatre training program is open to all beginner, intermediate, and advanced aspiring young performers, ages 7 and up. Students will engage in theatrical curricular studies focusing on creating a character, stage presence, script analysis, dance and performance skills, while learning techniques of auditioning for stage performance.*The youth drama program will meet once a week for 15 weeks, starting on July 2nd and culminating with a Fall Festival performance showcase of the Children’s Theatre production. Date to be announced.

Stompin’, Boppin’ Rockin’ Kids with Miss Sherri (Ages 4-7) Monday-Friday 8:30-11:30 am, Members $150 Non-Members $175. Skip, jump, swirl, twirl, or stomp your feet to music with Miss Sherri and friends. Be amazed at the energy, enthusiasm, and confidence we promote in your children as we equip them with the skills to be creative and give them the tools to become peace builders. The week ends with a mini-performance.

NJSYO Introduction to Orchestra for Strings (Children entering 4th-8th Grades) Monday- Friday, 9:30 am-12:00 pm, Members $135 Non-Members $150. Introduce children to the thrill of playing in an orchestra ensemble while refining their musical skills! Under the direction of New Jersey State Youth Orchestra conductor Katie Gussman, your child will learn to play music in groups, follow a conductor’s lead, and understand concert etiquette (both while playing and while listening to others play). Children will be given time to socialize with other children who are interested in classical music. The week will end with a short performance for parents. Students must (1) supply their own instruments and (2) have finished at least 1 year of instruction while completing Book 1 of a method series.

App Attack! Make Your 1st Game App with Black Rocket Productions (Ages 11-14) Monday-Friday, 1:00-4:00 pm, Members $165 Non-Members $175. Explore the App universe and create your own mobile application or mobile game! Students will explore the world of phone-based and tablet applications. In addition to learning the basics of mobile app design and games, you will also see firsthand how the world of App’s publishing functions. *No prior experience is necessary and students do not need to own a smart phone.

Bricks 4 Kidz Amazing Animals Camp (Ages 6+) Monday - Friday, 1:00-4:00 pm, Members $159, Non-Members $165. Learn fascinating facts about the animal kingdom the Bricks 4 Kidz way. Each day we will explore interesting and amazing animals of all kind - funny looking, creepy, adorable, big and small, slow and fast. Each day we’ll focus on a “creature of the day” and then build a colorful model using LEGO bricks - some will even move! 

New! MAC Grows Young Gardeners with Adrienne Shannon (Ages 5-10) Monday-Friday 9:30-11:30 am, Week 2 : July 28–August 1, Week 3: August 4–8, Members $150, Non-Members $165. The garden is a magical place to learn and grow. Learn about local seasonal vegetables, herbs, and fruits including where things grow, how things grow, and how we can enjoy them. Explore the joy and wonder of planning, planting, and taking care of a small garden through fun, age-appropriate hands on activities. Activities vary daily: arts and crafts, gardening, problem solving, taste testing, “uncooking” simple recipes. Water, a hat, and light gardening gloves are recommended for this very special week.

A Delicious Rainbow with Adrienne Shannon (Ages 4-10) Monday- Friday, 12:30-3:00 pm, Members $150, Non-Members $165. You are what you eat… so why not be as colorful as you can be? Everyone loves color, so let’s bring more of it into our diets. Learn about fresh produce of a different color, try samples and explore how food helps us grow up healthfully. Activities are designed to stimulate the imagination and develop creative ways of bringing more healthy unprocessed foods into our diet. Taste testing will be included. All classes are gluten free and include organic produce. Class size is limited.
