Middletown Arts Center Summer Art, Dance & Theater Camps: July 14 – July 18

Animals, Animals, Animals with Miss Laurie (Ages 4- 8) Monday-Friday, 9:00-11:45 am OR 12:15-3:00 pm, Members $105 Non-members $120. Big and small, spotted and striped, we love them all! Creative fun with animal prints, jungle creations and colorful habitats.

Painted Pillowcases & Accessories with Miss Laura French and Friends (Ages 9 – 12) Monday-Friday, 9:15 am-12:00 noon, Members $105 Non-Members $120. Bring your own pillowcase, hat or canvas sneakers (white or light colors recommended) to create a custom, trendy look with fabric paint. Washer and dryer friendly.

Shark Week (and Dolphins, Too!) with Doodle Dude (Grades 1 -5) Monday-Friday, 9:00-11:30 am, Members $120 Non-Members $132. Explore the wet media side of the arts! Watercolor, gouache, and splatter art! Plenty of cool sea life to paint! Orcas, great whites, and hammerheads! Beautiful dolphins, adding in Islander art tiki’s, monster waves, and hula girls!

Make a Doll Workshop with Patricia Sebastiano (Ages 7-12) Mondays Only, 12:30-3:30 pm. Session I: July 7, 14, 21, 28, Session II: August 4, 11, 18, 25, Members $85 Non-members $100. Explore the joys of sewing by hand. Create your own individualized cherished doll keepsake. Outfit your creation with a jumper, skirt, fashion accessories and a toy which you create using a pattern and simple hand sewing techniques. Enhance your creation with a variety of frills and embellishments. All supplies included and all levels welcome. “GLEE” at the MAC – Musical Theater Fun with Missy O’Keefe (K-5) July 7–11, 9:30 am-12:00 pm OR 12:30-3:00 pm, July 14–18, 9:30 am-12:00 pm OR 12:30-3:00 pm, Members $125 Non-Members $135. Join instructor Missy O’Keefe for a week of singing and dancing to your favorite songs! Learn to perform show-stopping numbers and discover what it takes to put together the type of performances you see each week on shows like “Glee”! There will be dancing, acting and singing all wrapped up in a fun packed week. All participants will take part in a variety of activities aimed at improving their inner musical skills.

“Instant Play” Acting for Kids with Mike O’Keefe (K-5) Monday-Friday, 9:30 am-12:00 pm OR 12:30-3:00 pm, Members $105 Non-Members $120. Acting techniques and fun for every student, from beginner to creative expert! Scene work, improvisational comedy, character study, TV, and fi lm techniques will be taught. We will also have lots of fun playing drama games that foster creativity, self-expression, and teamwork. Students are encouraged to show parents what they have learned in an end of week mini performance. Each week is different and students who love theater are encouraged to sign up for multiple weeks.

Youth Drama with Tara Mahoney and Erin Stripto, Wednesdays for 15 weeks*, 4:00-5:30 pm, Members $250 Non-Members $265. This professional theatre training program is open to all beginner, intermediate, and advanced aspiring young performers, ages 7 and up. Students will engage in theatrical curricular studies focusing on creating a character, stage presence, script analysis, dance and performance skills, while learning techniques of auditioning for stage performance.*The youth drama program will meet once a week for 15 weeks, starting on July 2nd and culminating with a Fall Festival performance showcase of the Children’s Theatre production. Date to be announced.

Party Like a Rock Star! Dance Camp with Miss Deena (Ages 4- 10) Monday-Friday, 8:30-11:30 am, Members $105 Non-Members $120. A week of star power awaits you in this high energy rocking and rolling dance camp.

Pirates, Lassies and Sponge Bob By the Sea Camp with Miss Sherri (Ages 3-7) Monday-Friday, 8:30-11:30 am, Members $150 Non-Members $175. Jump into this wonderful wet and wild camp exploring Pirates, Lassies, the wonderful silly world of Sponge Bob, and the great ocean blue! We’ll dive into a treasure trove of pirate songs, explore bubbles, paint shells, discover sea treasures, learn about sharks, whales, turtles, and jellyfish. Through imaginative play, stories, puppets, and movement, kids will discover a fantastic underwater world. Grab your pirate hat and take the plunge!

LEGO® Video Games with Black Rocket Productions (Ages 8-13) Monday-Friday, 9:00 am-12:00 pm, Members $165 Non-Members $175. Combine your two favorite activities: LEGOs and Video Games! Students will create your own LEGO universe, characters, and adventures in an interactive 2-D Video Game. At the end of the program, students will have a finished Lego Video Game. Games are only compatible with PCs - Mac versions can be created for an additional fee.

Bricks 4 Kidz: Model Designer Camp (Ages 6+) Monday-Friday, 1:00-4:00 pm, Members $159, Non-Members $165. How do LEGO brick model-designers come up with their ideas? How do the ideas go from concept to completion? Come explore the creative process of model design. Campers will learn the function of different LEGO components and discover how those components can work together to create all kinds of solid structures and moving parts. Each child will have the opportunity to present his or her own design.
