Middletown Begins Drunk Driving Crackdown Aug. 16 - Sept. 3
Middletown is one of more than 100 towns in New Jersey that received extra drunk driving patrol funds for the rest of summer 2019.
MIDDLETOWN, NJ — Heads up: Middletown Township is one of more than 100 towns in New Jersey that received additional drunk driving patrol funds for the rest of summer 2019.
Middletown applied for, and was given, a $5,500 grant from the federal Division of Highway Traffic Safety to pay for police overtime to look for drunk, drugged or otherwise impaired driving from now through Labor Day weekend.
The Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign will officially run from this Friday, August 16 through September 3, according to the federal government.

"As we head into the final weeks of summer and the busy Labor Day driving weekend, our officers will be stepping up efforts, working longer hours and increasing sobriety checks to keep intoxicated drivers off the road," said Eric Heitmann, director of the Division of Highway Traffic Safety.
