Middletown Board of Ed. Changes Tune Against JCPL Proposal
After first trying to stay neutral, the BOE will likely formally come out against the power line proposal at their Wednesday night meeting.

Middletown, NJ - After first trying to stay neutral in a debate that's gripped Monmouth County, the Middletown Board of Education will likely formally come out against Jersey Central Power & Light's power line proposal.
The school board will take a vote Wednesday night to pass a formal resolution opposing JCP&L's plan. The vote, which Board member Vinnie Brand said will likely pass, will be in direct contrast to Superintendent Bill George's position on the power line. Earlier this summer, after a June 21 BOE meeting, Dr. George insisted the school district would stay neutral on the power line proposal. However, last week, Brand published a widely-read letter on Patch, saying he disagreed and urging the board to take a formal position against JCP&L.

"The members of the board have considered additional information, had further discussions and have collectively decided to put forth a board resolution expressing significant concerns about project," Middletown's Board of Ed. president James Cody said in an email to the Asbury Park Press on Tuesday afternoon.
