Middletown Car Wash Worker Hit, Pinned Between Two Cars

MIDDLETOWN, NJ — A female car wash worker at the Garden State Car Wash, located on Hwy. 35 in Middletown, became pinned between two cars Sunday afternoon, Middletown police report.

Although the two cars were moving slowly in the car wash parking lot, the woman suffered a serious injury and she had to be medevaced to Jersey Shore University Medical Center by State Police helicopter.

The incident happened at approximately 3:55 p.m. Sunday, March 17. Middletown police responded to the Garden State Car Wash, located at 676 Rt. 35, for a report of a two-vehicle crash where a pedestrian was injured.

One car was exiting the wash bay and was moving forward to a location in the parking lot in order to be dried. That car then collided with a second vehicle, which was parked, police said. During the collision, a female worker at the car wash was struck and pinned between the two vehicles. Although the vehicle was apparently moving at a slow speed, the collision resulted in the woman sustaining serious injury.

She was treated on the scene by Middletown Police, Lincroft First Aid and paramedics from MONOC. She was then flown by the New Jersey State Police to in Neptune.

The driver, an adult male, remained on location and has cooperated with the police investigation. Neither the victim nor the driver is being identified at this time, and no charges have been filed.
