Middletown Couple Had Heroin, Child In Their Home, Police Say

A couple was arrested at their Middletown apt. after police said their child could have easily accessed heroin and needles strewn about.

MIDDLETOWN, NJ — The scourge of alleged heroin abuse sadly continues in New Jersey.

A man and woman were arrested July 17 at their Middletown apartment after police said their child could have easily accessed both hypodermic needles and heroin allegedly scattered throughout the home.

Candace Ronan, 29, and Jordan Frick, 30, were arrested that date after police said they were found with heroin and numerous used capped and uncapped syringes in their home. The couple had a child with them at the time, and the child had access to both the wax folds of heroin and the needles, police said.

Officers with the Middletown police department were visiting the home on that day with a representative from the state office of Child Protection and Permanency. Both the man and woman appeared to be under the influence of drugs when they were arrested, police said.

Police did not specify where exactly their apartment is located. They also did not give an age of the child.

Ronan and Frick were both charged with endangering the welfare of a child, possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of a hypodermic syringe.
