The search continues this week for a Middletown resident who was swept out to sea in Hawaii over the weekend.

MIDDLETOWN, NJ - The search continues this week for a Middletown resident who was swept out to sea in Hawaii over the weekend, authorities said.
Matthew Preziose, 25, was last seen Saturday before he was swept off in waters off Lumaha’i on the north short of Kaua'i.
Rescuers were dispatched around 1 p.m. due to reports of two swimmers in distress in waters off Lumaha’i Beach. According to a statement from the Kaua’i Police Department, one swimmer made it safely to shore.

Preziose remains missing. He is 5 feet, 11 inches tall and was last seen wearing blue swim shorts.
The U.S. Coast Guard, Hanalei firefighters and roving patrol lifeguards aided in the search, which was suspended due to darkness around 6 p.m. on Saturday evening. Jet ski assets from the state Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR) assisted the search party Sunday morning, with additional shoreline searches conducted by the Kaua'i Police Department.
