Middletown North Senior Receives Scholarship Money

This standout on the girls' softball team was awarded a $1,000 NJSIAA scholarship for college.

Middletown, NJ - Middletown North senior Payleigh Behan was given a $1,000 NJSCA college scholarship as part of the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association (NJSIAA).

Behan, a standout centerfielder on the North softball team, was named Middletown's NJSIAA scholar-athlete of the year in 2016. She is one of 217 high school student-athletes across the state honored for their achievements, receiving a total of $172,000 in college scholarships.

Each NJSIAA member high school (Middletown is a member) has the opportunity to select one senior student as their scholar-athlete of the year. Those students then attend the scholar-athlete luncheon where, through a random drawing, they had the chance to win a college scholarship from one of multiple sponsors.
