Middletown Police Charge Two Men With Shoplifting From Target

Police say they want to thank the public for their help with the case.

Middletown police have arrested two township men who they say shoplifted from Target.

One of the men was also charged with possession of crack cocaine and a crack pipe, police said.

Earlier this week, Middletown police released surveillance photos of the two men and asked for the public’s help in their search for one suspect and their attempt to identify the other man.

On Thursday, police announced on Facebook that the two men had been taken into custody.

Paul Ortiz, 52, of Ocean Avenue, Middletown was charged with conspiracy, Shoplifting from Target, Criminal Mischief, possession of Burglary
Tools, Possession of CDS (Crack Cocaine) and CDS paraphernalia (Crack pipe.) Bail for Ortiz was set at $20,000.

Edward Gross, 26 from Nautilus Drive, in the Leonardo section of town, was arrested and charged with Shoplifting from Target, and Conspiracy.His bail was set at $2,500.

Detective Albert Scott and Patrolmen Savvas Roumeliotis and Adam Colfer made the arrests.

Police said they wanted to thank the public for their help with the case.
